She is posing in front of our brand new couches - yeah! We had been dying to get new couches and it was finally able to happen! They are soooo comfortable. Not to mention they look so much better. We also got the girls some bedroom furniture. We had been looking for quite some time (for something that looked even similar to a bed that I loved in the Pottery Barn catalog). We ended up finding a good quality set that we love and two sets (bed, drawers, nightstand) cost as much as the one bed in the Pottery Barn catalog! Gotta love Pottery Barn, but those prices...whew! Anyways, Elizabeth and Molly had been using the drawers that belong in the baby's room and the baby's clothes were in plastic containers in our room. Oh what a luxury to have enough drawer space for everyone now!!!!
Anyways, to continue commenting on the picture above...you see a smiling Elizabeth. She had been sick throughout the week (along with everyone else), but I had assessed the situation that morning and she was the only one who seemed to be OK to go to church that morning. So Greg came home from his meetings to come pick her up. Wouldn't you know, right at the start of church she started complaining of ear pain. So Greg took her to the ER and, sure enough, she had a double ear infection. The other two girls followed suit a few days later. By Thursday, when we were to leave for my grandmother's funeral, they were so grumpy - even moreso than they had been that whole week with their severe colds/coughing fits. So we stopped at the Dr.'s on the way out-of-town and found out that they, too, had ear infections. Well, my kids don't have to take medicine very often at all. Julia never has and Molly hasn't much. Elizabeth hasn't much since we found out what a monster she is after she takes it. So, anyways, I had forgotten about the side effects of sugary medicine - until all 3 had taken it and the drama in the car ensued. (With kids who eat no sugar - this is a definite doozy for them!) The ear infections were easier to deal with than all 3 of them on this medicine! So we made an executive decision to not give it to them for 24 hours while we were traveling and started everything back up again when we got home. I may have taken a risk doing that. But we knew that traveling would be hard enough as it was. And once we got home and we were staying put for a while, then I thought I could better push on through the drama that the medicine was causing. So we have pushed through it and we're almost done! YEAH! (Now we're on a mission to find a better alternative for next time!)
I had to get this photo because this was the first time I had ever witnessed one of my children voluntarily lie on the floor and fall asleep. Poor Molly. This was during the sickness and she was feeling so awful. It was about 1/2 hour away from bedtime and she just couldn't wait for us to take her there!
My sister flew out here with her girls to go to my grandmother's funeral. When we got back we had the chance to spend some time with them. Her girls, Amelia and Emma, are Elizabeth and Molly's age, so they had a great time together.
We did some shopping at JoAnn's and the girls had fun. This is Amelia and Elizabeth holding hands. It's so cute to see them in their 3, almost 4, year old stage. Talking, interacting, playing together, and being little buddies.
We are going to Cincinnati next week so Greg can do some business. We'll go to Sam's Club and the Cincinnati Home and Garden Show with him, but we'll also have the chance to do some other fun things. We can't wait to visit my brother, Aaron, and his family, go to the Children's Museum, and go to the Gap Outlet! We are staying at a hotel with a pool and ran into some cute bathing suits at a good price at Costco the other day. So we bought the girls bathing suits and some goggles. They are in love with them and yesterday they wouldn't take them off!
We don't normally get to enjoy the amount of beautiful flowers that we have enjoyed in the past couple of weeks...
The funeral was a beautiful tribute to my grandmother. My dad's cousin who is a preacher conducted it and he spoke of her selflessness and goodness. Attributes that we will all remember about my grandmother and hope to emulate!

I love your couches! Where did you end up getting them? We are in the market now--it is so exciting. Your kids are so cute!!! Hope everyone is feeling better!
glad to see a new post. sounds like a lot going on. we have had some sickness as well, but, like you guys, seem to be on the mend... once it all is over with i'd still love to have the kidlets over for some photos - just keep that in the back of your mind and let me know when you're up for it. :) Enjoy your trip...
So sorry to hear about your grandmother...and about all the sickness. Never a dull moment, huh?
